This DVD station, released on my 40th birthday, proved the appropriate gift!

But let’s gather the negatives out of the contrivance first, to clarify why I gave it four stars rather than five:

1) One reviewer for Volume 1 complained that there was too exiguous material extracted from a six-year period of broadcasts. Unfortunately, Volume 2 presents the same limits.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Sesame Street: Vol. 2 - Old School! Click Here

2) If a Volume 3 is ever released, please omit the Falling Baker skit for the Number Two. With the novel two volumes, it’s been repeated to death. Give us more variety — at least treat us to that elusive Number One skit (Baker falling with a wedding cake) .

3) Same packaging is dilapidated as in Volume 1, with two of the three discs annoying stacked on top of each other.

4) One Super-Grover skit appears to be needlessly edited with unusual material.

5) That irritating disclaimer saying the DVDs may not be appropriate teaching material for today’s kids. (Might the lobster-trap segment be too un-PC? ) My 3-year-old nephew absolutely loves watching Volume 1, so I anticipate the same reception for Volume 2.

Nonetheless, this DVD location almost earned five stars from me for two main reasons:

1) The nostalgia achieve was distinguished enough to nearly override the negatives.

2) There’s one absolutely can’t-miss-feature in Disc One — the test pilot old to pitch the note to PBS! It’s one of the freakiest gems in this release, with a heavy and admirable “Soul Shriek” lumber running through the episode, an atypically crude Mr. Hooper, no kids singing “Sunny Day” (it took a moment for me to study the mutter), and precious spicy skits that I wish had been included in Volume 1 (notably Triangle & Square) . And is that the actor that I believe it is, playing a FOURTH Gordon??!!

As with Volume 1, I nearly cried seeing some skits that jogged bittersweet memories out of my subconscious (horseback mailman delivering an deliver of “The Dreary Truth” in the outskirts of Kentucky), and some that I understanding I’d never stare again but which I’m grateful to say I absorb at last (cows being fed hay in winter) . Some material almost unsettled me as a kid but I now salvage hilarious (King Minus), while some is of honest downright laugh-out-loud quality (Grover’s show-and-tell with Maria’s head) .

You’ll also accept the following: Telephone Rock, I’m a hard-working dog, surprisingly more of Roosevelt Franklin, Cookie Monster in flamboyant Elton-John wardrobe, the moment when Woof-Woof’s name was changed to Barkley (a change I voted against as a kid, but which I now can’t imagine having occurred otherwise), and one moment when Snuffy came so stop to being discovered by David. I could go on! But you’ll have to contemplate for yourselves.

I must admit my hope that, if there’s a Volume 3, it’s willing to go assist and cloak more of ‘69-’74.

Genius Products picks up the reigns for this second volume of nostalgic Sesame Street episodes aimed at adults who remember the series from their childhood.

The space contains five complete, hour-long episodes from the 6th through 10th seasons, 57 bonus segments, an unaired test pilot, a 12-page booklet with behind-the-scenes information and photos, and a special collectible animation cell from the classic keen segment “Pinball Number Count” featuring vocals by The Pointer Sisters.

Episode reveal includes the first episode with Roscoe Orman, the actor who serene plays Gordon today. Also the first appearance of Muppet characters Rodeo Rosie, Oscar’s trashman Bruno, the Two-Headed Monster and Barkley the Dog. Noted songs include “What’s the Name of that Song? ” and “A Song From Kermit” with celebrity appearances by Judy Collins, Henry Winkler (as the Fonze), Paul Simon, Lily Tomlin, Richard Pryor, Ray Charles and others.

With an included wireless remote control, using the system is a snap. The remote gives you full control of and access to your music, however and whenever you want it. The new Harman Kardon Go + Play system is the perfect combination of functional design and unparalleled sound quality.

Flexible Connectivity
Great sound shouldn’t just be limited to a stand-alone system in your home. You also should be able to have great sound from your music devices when you’re on the go. With the new Go + Play, you now can enjoy great sound wherever you happen to be. Take it with you anywhere; it works with both the included AC adapter and on batteries. You can rock out for nearly 18 hours from just 8 D-cell batteries, and there’s even a handy battery-save feature that will save your battery power when the system isn’t in use.

When it comes to connecting your musical devices, it couldn’t be easier. Do you have a dockable iPod, iTouch or iPhone? Simply place it in the flat protective cradle, and instantly enjoy the sound of your favorite musical artist. The new Go + Play will even charge your device when they’re docked in the cradle. Don’t have an iPod? Well, you can still connect your MP3 player, portable CD player, satellite receiver, or computer through the Go + Play system’s 3.5-mm input using a simple cable.

Advanced Technology
To deliver unmatched high-performance sound, the system features a number of proprietary technologies, including dual-proprietary Ridge transducers. They’re made from aluminum, which is inherently strong yet lightweight. This design allows these drivers to reproduce sound with unparalleled accuracy and detail for their size, and means that your music will be played back with a rich midrange and crystal-clear highs, without distortion.

The new Go + Play delivers an incredible sound experience from most dockable iPod models, MP3 players, or other audio devices, regardless of where you happen to be. View larger.

The Atlas woofers are a high-excursion design, which allows them to deliver the bass response of much larger woofers, and means you’ll hear tight, deep bass that will make your music sound more dynamic.

Powering the speakers are two 30-watt Harman Kardon amplifiers, which are designed to deliver high output with minimal distortion. The system even uses highly advanced digital signal processing and equalization to deliver cool, efficient power. All of that technology comes together in the Harman Kardon Go + Play system to provide a sound experience–whether on the go or in your personal entertainment space–you need to hear to believe.

The included wireless RF remote control gives you the freedom to enjoy your music from across the room, in another room, or even from outside–from up to 20 feet away. View larger.

Fantastic sound but…5
… unfortunately Amazon are selling it for $100 over the MRSP of $349. It is available elsewhere online for $299.

The only difference between this newer version and the old one is that this version is fully compatible with newer iPod models. It is not officially compatible with the iPhone, however it will charge it and play via the dock.

The sound really is great - clear highs, deep bass and distinct mid tones. What you can’t see in the photo is another set of subwoofer speakers on the back. It really kicks out a good volume.

If you have an iPhone, you might as well get the cheaper version (or buy this new model at a more reasonable price from B&H). The iPhone works fine with both models, it simply tells you it is incompatible, but in fact works fine.

Much better than Bose!5
I will make this review simple….I didn’t purchase this from Amazon because the old version was no longer available and the new version was just priced too high at the time. I purchased the older version (or so I thought) from B&H for $299. As it turned out, they were out of the older version so they subbed the new version (lucky me). The new version supports the 3GS iPhone for charging. The one and only con to this machine is the fact that you can not see the iPod as it is lying down unless you are right above it looking down at it. Outside of that little problem (and it is little to me) this is the best iPod player out there. Wayyyyyyy better than Bose and in my opinion better than the Zeppelin. The sound is unbelievable, it fills my living room and I do mean fills. My stereo snob coworker came over and he could not believe the bass and volume that this unit puts out. The bass is really there but the total sound is very balanced. I don’t use it as a portable unit so I can not speak to that but you will not be disappointed if you purchase this item.

Fantastic Sound5
I have my Go + Play for over 4 years now. The sound is so good that is hard to believe it comes from such a small device. If you had the chance of hearing it, you would certainly buy one. If you are a music fan, it’s a must.
The remote control is fantastic because of the impressive reach and the fact that you don’t need to point it to the unit to modify any setting. You can do it from inside your pocket. I only think that its usage may be a little tricky, if you want to use all functions. As I only control volume, music change, turn on and off, maintaining my iPod in the shuffle mode, It doesn’t bother me.
My wife has one similar made by Bose, which is good, but has no comparison with the Go + Play, mainly with respect to Subwoofer capability. The only advantage of Bose is that it comes with a charger wich also work as a rechageable battery.
The actual price may be higher than has been in the recent past, but is still worth it. I paid US$300 for mine at Amazon, total price, but I know it has been in the US$200 range not long ago (but no regrets).
I first learned about this product in an Apple Store, where they had several diferent models and manufacturers (including Bose), and the Go + Play was the far best and expensive (at US$350, plus tax, of course). Since then, I noticed that it has desaperead from the Apple Stores I’ve been to, and I can’t see it being sold anywhere else.

The second season of “All in the Family” gave us a more sympathetic Archie to care about, and was also when the entire ensemble of actors came to work together, completely in their characters now. Few tv comedy shows ever came discontinuance to it, either before or since, and what a pleasure to have these on DVD! Let’s hope maybe there are a few nice “extras” on this site though, as Season One had ZIP!

All things considered, the Second Season of “All in the Family” ends up being the best year of the classic set comedy that gave birth to the Relevance Era of prime-time television programming. After all, the exhibit was originally a mid-season replacement and there were only 13 episodes that first season. In 1971-72 “All in the Family” was the top-rated program on television, earning a 34.0 Nielsen rating, and winning second consecutive Emmy awards for Outstanding Series: Comedy and Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Comedy Series: Jean Stapleton, as well as Carroll O’Connor’s first Emmy for acting, one for Sally Strothers in her supporting role, and the awards for Directing (John Rich for “Sammy’s Visit”) and Writing (Burt Styler for “Edith’s Pickle”) . Dreadful Purchase Reiner, the forgotten figure in the ensemble (as if being Carl Reiner’s son was not enough of an onus) .

The second season continues to provide the ranting and raving of Archie Bunker, but it is the entire family that emerges in these two dozen episodes as we find beyond Archie arguing with Mike, telling Edith to stifle, and Gloria to discontinuance crying . There are also the show’s most well-known guest stars in terms of Sammy Davis, Jr., David Soul, Cleavon Puny, Beatrice Arthur, and, in one episode (”The Elevator Record,” January 1, 1972) Roscoe Lee Brown, Eileen Brennan, and Hector Elizondo. Clearly this was the hottest display on television and the entire conception of Archie driving a cab part-time was primitive mainly to site up an excuse for Archie Bunker to meet Sammy Davis, Jr.

There are several possibilities for the key episode in Season Two, including “Flashback: Mike Meets Archie” (October 16, 1971) where we explore that even when Archie drove Mike from the house by singing “God Bless America,” the conflict between the two is mighty more father and son-in-law than ideology. Life continues to deal Archie a series of blows at the commence of the season as his sponging cousin Oscar drops dull in the bedroom upstairs (”The Saga of Cousin Oscar,” September 18, 1971), he is arrested along with a group of radicals at a stutter rally (”Archie in the Lock-Up,” October 2, 1971), and his house is broken into (”Edith Writes a Song,” October 9, 1971) . But the biggest problems arrive from his wife, Edith, who suddenly becomes sulky and sulky as she beings menopause (”Edith’s Pickle,” January 8, 1972), and Edith’s radical liberal cousin, Maude (”Cousin Maude’s Visit,” December 11, 1971) . However, the sweetest moment of the season comes with the Bunkers dancing to “The Moonlight Serenade” after they are forced to live on their bear for a week with the kids out of time (”Archie and Edith Alone,” February 5, 1972) .

Mike has enough troubles without taking into yarn his constant verbal sparring with Archie. Gloria poses in the nude for one of his artist friends (”Gloria Poses in the Nude,” September 25, 1971), has an used girlfriend dumping off a four-year-old boy she claims is his son (”Mike’s Mysterious Son,” January 22, 1972), and becomes temporarily impotent worrying about his grades (”Mike’s Spot,” November 20, 1971), in what was the most controversial episode since the show’s novel pilot because of the, uh, irritable subject. Although it was a supporting fragment, the indicate did puncture Mike’s liberal views the same method it did Archie’s conservative diatribes.

If anyone emerges from Archie’s shadow it was Edith, who asserts her individuality by leaving a impress on a car after she accidentally dents it with a astronomical can of cling peaches (in heavy syrup) (”Edith’s Accident,” November 6, 1971), and who ends up arbitrating a deny between her husband and the owner of the Laundromat (Jack Weston), who knows Edith is objective, even if Archie does not (”Edith the Believe,” February 26, 1972) . I always opinion that Carroll O’Connor’s mugging grew over the years as an attempt to cessation Jean Stapleton from constantly stealing every scene from him.

However, if there is anybody who takes Archie down a peg or two during the second season, it is Archie himself. It is Archie who has let his voter registration lapse (”The Election Epic,” October 30, 1971), Archie who lays off the sinful person at the loading dock when he picks the Puerto Rican instead of Stretch Cunningham (”The Insurance is Cancelled,” November 27, 1971), Archie who loses his Christmas Bonus (”Christmas Day at the Bunkers,” December 18, 1971), who betrays a long-standing friendship (”Archie and the FBI,” January 15, 1972), and who refuses to glean alive to when he witnesses a mugging (”Archie Sees a Mugging,” January 29, 1972) . Calm, there were those who notion Archie Bunker was the conscience of the nation, and applauded his conservative politics (”The Man in the Street,” December 4, 1971) .

By the time Season Two ended with what was the pilot for the spin-off series “Maude” (March 11, 1972), with the Bunkers attending the wedding of Maude’s daughter Carole (who was played by Marcia Rodd and not Adrienne Barbeau at that point), “All in the Family” was the best exhibit on television. It is the only series in the history of television to attain #1 in the Nielsen ratings five seasons in a row. “I Care For Lucy” did not do that and neither did “Gunsmoke” or “The Cosby Point To.” But then all of those shows had an impact on their respective genres while “All in the Family” made relevant topics viable on every program on the tube.

not what it should be2
This unit is advertised as auto hole advance. It only does it on an average of 2 holes per round of golf, no pattern to it, just at random. Distances ore off when compared to yardage markers and other brands of Golf GPS units ( Sky Caddy, Golf Buddy, etc.). Customer service replies are only after multiple requests and their final response was to send it to them and they would fix it or replace it. Not satisfied with unit at all.

Didn’t meet expectations1
The auto-hole function which automatically advances to the next hole doesn’t work for me. The auto advance happens when you enter the tee box. I play the white tees. They have most of the tee boxes on my course mapped for the blue or black tees so my unit doesn’t advance on most of the holes. I have to manually advance it which defeats the purpose for which I bought it.

Good device but not Great3
Sonocaddie is a good device but it’s not what The picture shows. There is no fairway detail, which I wanted. If you don’t need this than it is a good buy.

The mighty Khorn5
It is not often something designed and manufactured over 60 years ago can stand the test of time. The Klipsch horn is one of them (others that come to mind are the Fender Telecaster, Stratocaster, Porsche 911, etc.)

The nice thing about the Khorn is it tucks neatly into the corners of your room. The speakers may be big, but they don’t take away from the living space. They sound fabulous! They have some of the best imaging of any speakers I have ever heard (even the Jubilee)…the bands instruments and singer are easily located in the listening field. It is as if you are at the concert! In fact better since you can control the volume and program. I have run the Khorns with a cheap Denon AV receiver all the way up to a McIntosh tube amp. All sounded terrific.

Another nice thing about the Khorn is that they can be updated. Say you have a pair manufactured in 1960…they can be brought up to 2009 specs by changing a couple of drivers and adding new crossovers. These are things someone can easily do if they are handy with a screwdriver. That is like taking a 1963 Porsche 911 and bringing it up to 2009 specs for far less than a new one! Name another product on the market that you can do that!

One of the best — with good recordings5
Whenever you move from one well designed speaker to another well designed speaker, you gain something and lose something, IMO.

Klipschorns excel in dynamics, and certain kinds of “presence.” In a large room, with a good SACD, Bluray disk, analog open reel tape, or with an especially good CD, DVD, or vinyl Lp, they produce an enormous sound that really does sound like a live orchestra. As J. Gordon Holt (the founder of Stereophile magazine) once said, “they trigger the musical Gestalt” for many listeners who are musicians. That triggering is far more important than the few individual variables we can measure. In terms of the conventional measurements Klipshorns have very low intermodulation distortion and very low harmonic distortion. Some
expensive speakers have flatter frequency response, but flatness of frequency response is less important than other variables we can hear, but haven’t developed ways to measure, IMO.

As to “power,” with the most conservative ratings, it would take an 800 watt amplifier into a typical speaker (one rated at 90 dB at 2.83 volts at 1 meter) to equal the output from Khorns with an 120 watt amp…….. with ratings based on the Khorn pushed all the way back in a room corner or an artificial corner (where they must be) a typical speaker would need over 3,000 watts to produce sound as loud as a Khorn with a 120 watt amp (these are figures I just happened to have — in practice, you wouldn’t want to put a steady signal of either 800 watts or 3,000 watts into a typical speaker, nor would you want to put a steady 120 watts into a Khorn).

What Khorns can’t do is cover up (mush over) a bad recording. Some other speakers obscure some details (like a singer’s rattling necklace that I heard on Klipschorns but missed on all other speakers I tried), and may contribute some harmonically pleasant distortion that will make a bad recording sound “richer.” Khorns (and many other horn loaded speakers) are not very “forgiving,” and are quite revealing of both music and defects in a subjectively different way than other revealing speakers (such as electrostatics and ribbons).

I once knew a musician who had one set of speakers (all paper cones) to listen to most recordings and FM radio with because they were “forgiving,” and a set of horn loaded speakers to listen to recordings of his own acoustical guitar work, because the forgiving speakers could not reproduce the immediacy and “thereness,” as he put it, of his guitar.

Klipschorn pros and cons5
Having kicked around with the audio hobby since the 1950’s and known about “the mighty Klipschorn” by reputation since then, finally at the age of 61 I purchased a new pair of them in 2003 (list $7500, I got them for $6500) plus a new Belle Klipsch in ‘04 to use as a center channel.

Yes, the Klipschorns are big but are surprisingly unobtrusive when snuggled back into their corners as they should be. The sight of the handsome Klipschorns + Belle array together begets audiophile-reverence before even hearing them. But yes also, the Klipschorns are idiosyncratic, “idiosyncratic” being defined as their being merciless in showing up program- and amplifier imperfections and deficiencies.

The Klipschorns are VERY amplifier sensitive. I have run them with at least four home theater receivers, three of which, the newer models, were designed to feed an external powered subwoofer. The fourth, a vintage-1990 obsolescent Pioneer Pro-Logic receiver (VSX-5700X) does not have a powered subwoofer output. To make a long story short, with the three newer amps the Klipschorns sounded lousy, very clear and precise but with no or nil bass, very thin sounding. Reaction: “I paid $6500.00 for THIS?!”

But with the old Pioneer, holy cow! The Klipschorns BLOOMED. Tight pure deep effortless bass like you would not believe, and fine solid crystal-clear sound and imaging all the way up the spectrum. Same speakers, same room but what a difference. It was dramatically and instantly noticeable.

Since the old Pro-Logic Pioneer drives the center channel with only a synthesized signal of approximately AM-radio quality, the Belle is underfulfilled so to speak, but still anchors the center soundstage nicely. I’m happy.

I consider I know why this film was so poorly received and tanked at the box office. It was TOO “inside”. Mighty of this film is a series of jokes about the standard, mature, formulaic, bombastic action film genre. But the humor was so tongue-in-cheek so often that it probably didn’t bode well with the average action-junkie film fan. “Last Action Hero” made fun of itself as it unfolded, and one would need a distinct sense of humor to fully luxuriate in it on its intended level. I dare say that most folks who went to this film unbiased didn’t “derive it”. Too abominable for them.

The major flaw of the DVD is that the film is presented in the god-awful Pan and Scan format. Pan and Scan presentations of frenetically-shot widescreen films should be outlawed, it’s fair that simple. You almost come by a headache watching this P&S version. The digital pan is so obtrusive and distracting that it can drive one to infuriate! It pulls you out of the film, to say the least. I like (but don’t really cherish) this film, and the coarse tag of the DVD makes the prefer a no-brainer. But it is too optically glum to gaze in P&S.

Release it in widescreen and all will be okay.

This is one of those movies that a lot of people that haven’t seen it say, “That movie wasn’t really that generous, was it? ” but those that have seen it, say, “Why wasn’t this movie more well-liked? ” Maybe it was poor timing, or as some others suggested, objective not correctly billed to the public.

Last Action Hero is hard to portray. It’s amusing, it’s witty, with lots of those one-liners that Arnold became so accepted with, and I loved the blueprint he constantly poked fun at his fictional character as well as his “sincere” self. Some of my popular dialogue in the movie is when the kid is trying to convince “character Arnold (aka: Jack Slater) ” that he’s actually honest a character in a movie. The kid starts asking about phone numbers and how can they possibly all originate with 555- in a city with several million phone numbers, when Jack Slater exasperatedly says, “That’s why we have Dwelling Codes…” Priceless. The movie is fat of fun stuff like that, and I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is even remotely a Schwarzenegger fan, or who unprejudiced like campy, yet sparkling, movies. The parody within a parody, and movie within a movie actually worked well in this one.

I conception the movie had a lot of expansive character performances, and clever scripting, and I reflect this movie got a bum rap. It’s really a enormous movie, I’m satisfied I bought the DVD. The transfer is a itsy-bitsy sloppy in places on the one I bought, but since it’s a “Special Anniversary Edition”, I have a feeling that had something to do with it. There’s only a fullscreen version on my DVD, no widescreen, and the camera pans are really noticeable in a few places.

Customer Reviews:

ASUS customer service sucks1
I bought an ASUS laptop and 2 weeks later the “Z” key falls off. Contacted customer service who stated I would have to send the computer in or replace the whole keyboard. To send it in I would need to get a box and pack it, they won’t send you one. If I want them to send me a replacement keyboard I have to fax them my credit card information, which they will charge if I don’t send back the broken one. They will not just send you a replacement key. I couldn’t understand the first person I talked to on the phone, but I definitely got the idea she had a bad attitude. She never followed through with sending me the mailing label she was suppose to, so I could mail it in. Another interesting fact is when I sent in my warranty card, it cams back as undeliverable, giving me the impression this company is not very reliable. This is definitely a customer no-service company. I have just learned to live without my “Z” key, since I hate to think of all that can go wrong if I sent my computer in to these clowns.

    Customer Reviews:

Does not scan grayscale. BW poor quality, color to slow1
I really really really wanted to like this scanner. I received the unit on Friday and had planned on spending Saturday scanning in all my documents and then relaxing on Sunday. I am sooooo disappointed with the quality of the scans and software when scanning in documents like car insurance or doctors statements that I am sending it back.

The main issue is that the manufacture’s web site states that the scanner can scan grayscale and B/W documents in at a rate of 25 PPM. This is an outright lie on one level and a stretching of the truth on another level.

First let me start off with the truth stretching. The scanner is very fast while scanning in B/W images but it did not seam like it was 25 PPM fast so I timed it using a stop watch. I was able to scan in a page (two sides) in 6.4 seconds that’s 10 PPM not 25! As Fujitsu rates their ScanSnap S1500M at 20 PPM whether you scan one or two sides, I assumed I would see the NeatDesk scanner do the same. Thinking that they (NeatCo) must have been playing with some slick marketing numbers when they came up with the 25 PPM rate I figured I would see the 10 PPM rate double to 20 if I only scanned one side of a page instead of two. I was very disappointed to see that the rate did not change between one or two sides. Normally I would think that 10 PPM is a very quick scan, which it is, but it is more than half as fast as advertised.

That was the truth stretching now onto the lie.

My main complaint is not the scan rate of B/W or grayscale scans. I would be very happy with a 10 PPM grayscale document scanner. The problem is that the scanner / software package does NOT scan in grayscale. The scanner DOES send the images to my iMac in GRAYSCALE and then the horrible software converts it to B/W. Yes you heard me right! They take a perfectly legible (8 bit, 256 levels of black) grayscale image and turn it into a very poor quality B/W (2 bit, 2 color) illegible image. I can’t for the life of me understand why they would do such a thing.

If you are only interested in scanning in receipts, which by their nature are only black and white, then you might be happy with the software. Unfortunately about 95% of the stuff I wanted to scan is various types of documents / kids school work / insurance papers / medical records etc. If you have ever looked at these kinds of documents you will notice that most of them have shaded areas on the page that highlight important text. These shaded areas, along with the text, usually become unreadable when converted to B/W. Not only can I not able to read them the OCR can’t detect them either. It makes me angry to see a scan show up on the screen that looks GREAT only to have it destroyed a few seconds later by the software as it converts it to black and white.

I contacted NeatCo about the ability to scan to grayscale. Their support person was very nice and polite; unfortunately she confirmed for me that the software does not support grayscale. Her response is at the end of the review.

You may think that I should just scan in color. Unfortunately scanning in color is very slow. A color scan took 15 seconds for a single sided page and 27.5 seconds for a single 2-sided page (weird that color scans do double the time for 2 sides unlike the BW option). At this rate it puts color scans in at 2 PPM not the 8.5 reported on their web site. At 2 PPM it will take me several hundred hours to scan everything I need to scan.

The quality of color scans is very good if you are willing to wait 30 seconds for a single 2-sided scan.

Here are my timing results for the BW, color, 1 side and 2 sided document. All times are for a single sheet of paper.

Page Sides | Color Mode |Time to Scan |Total time to scan & OCR 1st page
    1 | Color | 15 sec | 52 sec
    2 | color | 27 sec | 1:15 (m:sec)

    1 | BW | 6.4 sec | 36 sec
    2 | BW | 6.5 sec | 40 sec

Just for reference I have a late 2008 24” iMac with 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 gigs of ram. I have also updated the NeatDesk software to their latest version as of 10/30/2009 which is 2.1.9

I have taken some screen shots of the grayscale images before they are converted to BW and will try to post them to Amazon. In the screen shots you can see that the initial image looks very nice. If NeatCo fixes this issue the package might be worth a look.

Here is the NeatCo response to my grayscale question.

    Response (Campbell) - 10/29/2009 08:45 PM
    Hi Chris,

There’s no way to set to scan in a gray scale at this time. I will put in a feature request to our developers so they can include this capability in future releases.

    Neat scanner, not bullet proof4
The scanner is assembled very well and generally works well. This version is for Mac’s, and my general complaint is that the software is missing some key conveniences that seem pretty obvious. Small tasks like removing pages or combining documents are not intuitive and could have been accomplished so much easier. However, thes problems are easy to fix and likely will be in updates to the software. The character recognition on the scanner works pretty well. Honestly, the main purpose I bought this scanner for was to digitally scan my bills, documents, proof of purchase, etc that I want to keep, just not in paper form. This will do a good job of scanning those into pdf which are backed up on my machine…time to clean out some clutter! From that standpoint, good product. The other important point that got me comfortable is that the scanner quality is as good if not better than other document fed scanners…so the software is essentially a bonus.

Do not trust docs to this scanner1
I spent days scanned thousands of pages of large, important docs into this scanner. Once I saw them, I discarded the originals. Only later did I learn that you cannot export anything larger than 100 pages, so the pages were visible only on the viewer. Still later, the file became corrupt, so I have irretrievably lost valuable and irreplaceable documents. After many hours of troubleshooting (and memory upgrades), Neat Receipt told me the file had become corrupted. They also acknowledged that there is no way to know from the documentation that they do not support 100+ page docs until you try to export one.

I loved this movie when I was a miniature girl, and have been trying to track it down since the neighbor who owned it moved away when I was 10 years customary. This movie traces Nadia’s career in gymnastics, starting from the moment she was discovered in the schoolyard by Bela Caroli when she was only 5 or 6 years conventional. We learn of the difficulties Nadia encounters, as her life is slowly taken over by the sport in many ways. However, we also peruse all of her victories, starting with the competition where she was chosen to portray her country and first stole the spotlight from the other young gymnasts. The movie follows Nadia’s life up to the Olympics, and the gymnastics scenes are all intercut with scenes from Nadia’s staunch performances.I beget that anybody who loves gymnastics will really devour this movie. I really hope that it will be rereleased on VHS because I can’t wait to engage a copy of my beget!

I bought this VHS for my daughter, who is starting gymnastics lessons on the drop. While it was a sterling introduction to gymnastics for her, I can’t benefit but feel really cheated. There is a LOT missing from this VHS version! There are scenes that abruptly slash off without explanation. There is a nice scene in the beginning where Nadia meets another slight gymnast, they do an impromptu gymnastics routine together and lie on the mat and talk. That entire scene was sever out, so you’re left not even radiant that they are friends. The was a lot more missing - more towards the ruin, that I realized after the film was over. I’m not distinct why they didn’t impartial release the film in its entirety, but it left the viewer with a feeling that character development was rather shallow, and it was more like a lickety-split after-school special than a “bio”, which is what the unusual version was. I would suggest waiting for this to eventually reappear on cable, rather than buying this version if you want something complete.
